Description: This afterschool club is designed to tutor students in math. We work to fill learning gaps and skills that impede standard mastery. 

Goal: Increase student scores by 10%. Build student confidence with math skills.

8th Grade ELA

Goals: Beginning Standards: RI 8.6 -Determine an author's point of view or purpose in a text and analyze how the author acknowledges and responds to conflicting evidence or viewpoints.  With standard-based materials, my 8th graders will be mastering complex reading passages, understanding and using figurative language, providing an objective summary of the text, and using the writing process to take compositions from prewriting and planning through revision.

Description: Tutoring and Remediation for Math 1

Goal: To help students fill any learning gaps that may be present from previous grades or from teaching sessions in class. To clear any misunderstandings and misconceptions that may be present surrounding the content at hand, as well as, to do practice in aid of passing the EOG Math 1. 

EC- Intervention

Days: Tuesday and Thursday

Teachers: Mrs. Crump and Mrs. Dillard-Cobb

Description: Students will be provided with academic assistance by offering additional support. 

Goal: To help students fill any learning gaps that may be present from previous grades or from teaching sessions in class.

Art Club

Art Club

Days: Tuesday and Thursday

Teacher: Ms. Barkley

Description: An extension of the art classroom. Focus on drawing & composition layout. A variety of 2D materials. Some opportunities for 3D activities.  Also, as a tutorial for students needing extra time and assistance on regular class work. 

Goal: Refine 2D and 3D skills, art appreciation. Strengthen student art skills for next year's art students.

Battle of the Books

Day: Tuesday

Coach: Mr. Meadows

Description: Encouraging literacy in our students while preparing them for district, regional, and maybe even state-level competition where they will show what it really means to be a great reader.

Goal: 6th, 7th, and 8th grade will practice good reading and study habits while preparing to compete against other schools in friendly competitions.  Students will also learn teamwork and sportsmanship. 

Beta Club

BETA Club

Description: To promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service and leadership among elementary and secondary school students.

Goals: Today's students to be tomorrow's leaders. 

 

Robotics
Days: Tuesday and Thursday

 

Teachers: Mr. Gutierrez and Mr. White 

Description: With a focus on countrywide events at the end of the season.

Goals: Create a working robot for local events. 

Band

Days: Tuesday and Thursday

Coach: Ms. McBryd

Description: Preparing our band members for upcoming events.

Goals: 6th, 7th, and 8th grade will practice while preparing to compete against other schools in friendly competitions.  Students will also learn teamwork and sportsmanship. 

 

 

Speech and Debate

Description: Students will work on developing a pro and a con speech, working towards the county-wide competition in April.

Goals: Students will write and deliver a persuasive speech on an assigned topic.

Especially For Girls

Teacher: Mrs. Major

Description: Mentorship program for girls that will entail courses in social and mental growth.

Goals: To encourage mental, social, and physical growth; to promote self-confidence, self-esteem, and empowerment.

 

Changing Minds

Description: Mentorship young men that will entail courses in social and mental growth.

SEL - Social and Emotional Learning

Days: Tuesday

Teacher: Mrs. Dillard-Cobb

Description: SEL - Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships and make responsible decisions.

Goals: The goal for teaching SEL is to help students develop a positive mind-set through learning Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social-Efficacy, and Academic Efficacy

 

 

HOSA - Future Health Professionals 

 

Days: Tuesday and Thursday

Teacher: Mrs. Moore

Description: HOSA's two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the healthcare industry and to enhance the delivery of quality healthcare to all people.

Goals: Enhance knowledge of healthcare and develop leadership, and confidence, serve our community, and set career goals. 

FBLA- Future Business Leaders of America

Days: Monday

Teacher: Mrs. Parks

Description: FBLA Middle School provides an opportunity for members to explore a range of career skills as well as project-based learning experiences tied to a Business Education Program. In FBLA Middle School, members will identify problems and solutions to begin developing business skills.

Goals: Demonstrate the ability to be an effective team member in project-based learning experiences. Understand career paths and gain knowledge of the skills needed to pursue different business owner paths. Learn about networking relationships and how to maintain them. Deepen knowledge of personal strengths to become a leader


Clubs meet after school from 4 - 6 PM. All dates and times are subject to change please check with the hosting teacher.

 

No school provided transportation. 

Students must be picked up.
